    BID TODAY ON A 56 YEAR OLD 1964D SILVER KENNEDY HALF DOLLAR IN AN AIRTIGHT CASE.  IN 1964, 156,205,446 SILVER KENNEDYS’ WERE MINTED.
    GILROY ROBERTS, CHIEF ENGRAVER OF THE MINT IN 1963, DESIGNED THE OBVERSE OF THIS COIN.  HIS SYLIZED INITIALS ARE ON THE TRUNCATION OF THE FORECEFUL BUST OF PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY.  THE REVERSE, WHICH USES THE PRESIDENTIAL COAT OF ARMS FOR THE MOTIF, IS THE WORK OF THE NEXT CHIEF ENGRAVER, FRANK GASPARRO, WHO WAS APPOINTED IN FEBRUARY 1965.
