This 120 Minute Video is made from movies taken by crew members aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA-42 before and during the 1964 Mediterranean Cruise.
The original films have been professionally converted to digital format with color and exposure corrections made as needed. T
his DVD is made to be played on US players that are compatible with the DVD- format.
I was a US Navy Photographer's Mate aboard the FDR from 1958-60 and I'm making these Videos so shipmates will have something visual to show their families and pass along to future generations. My plan is to make a Video for each cruise and this is the fifth one completed. A portion of the purchase price of this Video is donated to the USS FDR Reunion Association.
The film opens with flight deck scenes and activities filmed before the 1964 Med. Cruise. On 28 April the ship departed Mayport for her 12th Mediterranean Cruise.
This video shows scenes from Pollensa Bay, Barcelona, Montserrat, Palma, Athens, Cannes, Golfo di Palma, Pompeii, Rhodes and being relieved by USS Saratoga at Gibraltar. Flight ops and underway replenishment scenes are included as well.
