This 111 Minute Video is made from movies taken by crew members aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA-42 before and during the 1962-63 Mediterranean Cruise.
The original films have been professionally converted to digital format with color and exposure corrections made as needed. T
his DVD is made to be played on US players that are compatible with the DVD- format.
I was a US Navy Photographer's Mate aboard the FDR from 1958-60 and I'm making these Videos so shipmates will have something visual to show their families and pass along to future generations. My plan is to make a Video for each cruise and this is the sixth one completed. A portion of the purchase price of this Video is donated to the USS FDR Reunion Association.
In February 1962 the ship arrived at New York City for a 2 month overhaul in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. In March she headed for her home port of Mayport, Florida. After refresher training out of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba she set off for the Mediterranean Sea.
This video shows scenes from New York Harbor, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Mayport, FL, Guantanamo Bay, Rhodes, Athens, Istanbul, Cannes, Pisa, Florence, Rome and Paris along with Refueling and Replenishing at Sea.
